Crazy life!

Well, I had all intentions of being a faithful blogger here, but life has had other distractions for me. I'm teaching a 2-day course this summer on Inquiry and Technology, so maybe my students will motivate me to use this space more effectively.

Finally tenure, but what next?

After being at this institution for 6 years and working diligently in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service, I have been promoted to associate professor with tenure! Now I'm wondering, where do I go from here?

Many of my colleagues have "abandoned ship", taking jobs at institutions with a higher profile and promises of more creative or academic freedom. At 50 years old, I'm not sure I want to spend another 6 years striving to be promoted to FULL professor. Collecting artifacts to prove my worth and creating GIANT notebooks to document the same seems a bit depressing.

Guess I'll give it some time...
